hmm...
you know, that IS quite true. Not focused on adults. But I guess it has something to do with a large portion of the audience being teens. I mean, surely we want something we can relate to.
Haha, actually I can't give much comment because I don't watch anime ( unless you count the very few episodes of Rave and Gensomaden Saiyuki). And the only manga I've ever read is Shaman King, and that was about a year ago. There are adults in Rave, actually. And in Saiyuki too, in fact all of them are adults except the little kid (whom I guess is the anime's version of Sun Wu Kong) - i think.
I wouldn't say it's that limited to teens. It's not really the point that adult characters are being neglected, just that, they're not so important. Hence why bother focusing so much on then anyway. Maybe some people dont' even notice that certain characters in anime are adults, because of the way they act. Most of them don't act like your typical adult. For example, the so-called adults in Shaman King -- a gangster guy in search of 'the best home-sweet-home', a genius doctor who carries his wife's skeleton in his coat and summons her out for battle, a samurai spirit, a father who is bent on pushing his son to be Shaman King so he can regain former glory, a handful of stauch Christians who want to win so that they can rain revenge on the boy who killed their loved ones......................................
get what I'm saying???
All in all, i think it's a fuss over nothing.
But, u know, don't take my word for it because i'm probably just a wannabe.
And I still can't wait to watch FFVII:AC !!!!!!!
wakakakaka.......

I saw this view on anime from a forum and i thought it was quite a funny observation. Enjoy:
"Anime has become one of my main forms of solo entertainment recently, replacing video gaming and watching television as being on of the top indoor activities I do.
There are, however, pet peeves I have about anime. The reason I stick with anime over regular televison is that I really do dislike most television shows, whereas I still like anime but am annoyed by some aspects of it.
Teenagers. They are simply everywhere in anime. Sure, adolescence is a very telling time in any person's life, and from what little I have gleaned about Japanese culture it seems to be even more important and influental there than it is in the United States. Therefore the fact that many, many anime series focus on teenaged main characters doesn't really bother me.
What does bother me from time to time is that adult characters seem to be intentionally forgotten or written out of most series, often by outlandish means or by the simple realization that a shitload of anime characters have dead parents. I think a screenshot from Jubei Chan 2 recognizes the sort of flaw I'm talking about quite well:
http://www.capnjiffy.com/animescreens/JubeiChan2/jubeichan2_109.jpg
And it's true.
What I would like to know is why anime directors/authors/whatever you want to call them seem to have an aversion to actual adult characters. Most adult characters that do appear are one-dimensional and only appear in between the meat of the story.
Yes, I know about the exceptions, so don't point them out to me. That isn't the emphasis of this thread. The emphasis is why in the series that are focused on teens do the adults play little to no role."
Just wondering... what is Ka Mun's and Joo Khai's opinions on this since they are big fans of anime? :)

silence is golden.... golden....
i guess that is what happens to "un-owned" blogs like this!
anyway, my contribution for the day:
kamun i just saw the china photos and realised you and kaling have the same hairstyles! is it the trend now among teenagers to have no fringe? i guess must be all those korean dramas' influences. i didn't know Bruce Lee's parents were from there. speaking of him, i have the same hairstyle as bruce lee now. sometimes, when i m lazy and just wake up over the weekend, i look like dr. spock (star trek) too. all i have to do is wear some lycra top to complete the makeover! haahaha
has anyone caught some chinese makeover program on 8tv yesterday? basically they get a couple to participate by changing the girl's look (just like extreme makeover minus surgery). the catch is that the guy doesn't know about it. so on yesterday's episode, the couple nearly broke up due to the misunderstanding. see, for the girl to transform herself, she needed like 2 weeks and since it has to be a SURPRISE, she cannot meet the bf and keeps giving him excuses that she is busy. so the bf thinks she is lying and soured the relationship. and the host & producers of the show? they just "felt bad" and giggled. gee....

...
jook's right.
is everyone so busy that they can't even spare a few minutes to type something in here?
Pada zaman yang pancaroba ini, institusi keluarga semakin diabaikan kerana sikap manusia yang serakah dan terlalu ghairah mengejarkan kekayaan. Contohnya, semua anggota keluarga (you know who you are!) terlalu asyik dengan kerja sendiri sehingga tidak menitikberatkan hubungan sendiri dengan keluarga lagi. Tepuk dada tanya selera, wujudkah perkara yang lebih penting daripada keluarga sendiri?
don't mind me, I'm just trying to brush up on my 'bom' words. My BM teacher makes sure that we include at least a few bombastic words in our karangan so that our 'bahasa' (in the breakdown if the karangan assessment) marks are higher.
